NJ Workers Sue for Mold in Municipal Building

Employees of the Public Safety Building in Cape May County, New Jersey have filed a lawsuit against the municipality claiming mold in their workplace is affecting their health.

According to attorney Daniel Tracy, who represents the three workers, the goal of the lawsuit is to persuade the township to remove mold from the office building. “It turns out some of the employees that work there have had pulmonary problems over the years,” Tracy said.

Employees suspected there had been mold in the building, which was built during World War II. Their suspicions were confirmed when a contractor pulled of paneling and discovered a “lot of mold,” according to Tracy. “We’re investigating whether the type of mold found in the building is the type of mold that could cause some of the problems that they have,” he added.
