City council approves increase in electricity prices
Austin’s city council unanimously approved a plan to increase electric rates last Thursday.
The rate increase has been in the works since 2009, when Austin Energy’s then-general manager proposed the raise. A combination of rising fuel costs and stagnant rates has caused the utility company to have deficits as high as 2010’s $86 million shortcoming.
The rate increase will affect larger homes more than smaller ones. Austin Energy claims that the average home’s monthly bill can increase anywhere from $8 to $113 once the increases go into effect in October.
To prepare for the upcoming electricity rate increase, you may want to have your air ducts cleaned. Contact the air duct cleaning experts of WOW Total Cleaning at 512-291-0048 to learn more about how we can help.
