Friday marks the beginning of SXSW in Austin

Posted on March 6th, 2012 No Comments

The annual interactive conference, South by Southwest, will begin this Friday in Austin. Local residents of Austin are preparing for the large crowds that are set to occupy the city for the next 10 days.

Last year, crowd control became a problem when unexpected droves of people showed up for one of the free music shows at Auditorium Shores. Austin Police were unable to contain the crowds which toppled over a fence to get into the show, which was at capacity.

Austin Police have said that additional officers will be on hand this year for the conference so that they can maintain order throughout the event. At any given time there will be 400 officers patrolling the streets of Austin. The conference runs until Sunday, March 18.

The Austin carpet cleaning professionals of WOW Total Cleaning hope that everyone attending the events for SXSW has a great time. If you are interested in learning more about the conference, visit the official conference website today.

Flu season and household cleaning

Posted on February 15th, 2012 No Comments

Flu season is picking up speed, and it is important to be protected. Flu shots and personal hygiene precautions should be taken, but it is also necessary to keep your house clean.

Viruses can reside in several areas of a house, such as doorknobs, countertops, and door handles. Disinfectant should be used on a daily basis in order to remove these viruses from your house.

When you are cleaning your house, make sure to protect yourself from the viruses and germs as well by wearing protective gloves on your hands. These gloves will cause you to not touch your face as often throughout the cleaning process, therefore not spreading germs.

Upcoming project has plans to end flooding in San Antonio

Posted on January 31st, 2012 No Comments

Sixmile Creek in San Antonio, Texas has been known to overflow and cause serious flooding in residential homes near the area. In 1998 and 2002 the flooding got out of hand and several homeowners on the South Side saw the devastating effects of the rising water.

A project that has been in the works for several years is about to be put into place in Bexar County. This $23 million commitment will allow for several areas of the creek to be widened as well as numerous bridges to be built.

The city and residents of the South Side are hopeful that this project will put an end to needless flooding. The ability to maintain and house the rainfall is a large goal of the project. The construction efforts are expected to span out over the next 10 months.

If your home has experienced flooding, please contact the Austin water extraction and restoration company, WOW Total Cleaning, by calling 512-499-0058 today.

How to remove a grease stain from upholstery

Posted on January 18th, 2012 No Comments

Removing a grease stain from fabric upholstery could be time consuming and challenging. Grease stains are one of the hardest to remove on your own and it is important to be diligent in the process in order to have the best results.

Here are some important steps in removing grease stains from upholstery:

  1. Use baking soda to soak the grease stain fully
  2. Let the baking soda sit on the stain for 20 minutes
  3. After removing the baking soda, use a dry cleaning product
  4. Apply the product to the stain, then remove

When dealing with grease, water-based cleaning products should not be used at all. These products can permanently seal the stain into the upholstery and will not help further uplift the stain.

Eliminating a grease stain from fabric upholstery may be more trouble than it is worth. If you are interested in professional upholstery cleaning, please contact the Austin upholstery technicians of WOW Total Cleaning by calling 512-499-0058 today.

When power washing is necessary

Posted on January 5th, 2012 No Comments

The surfaces of buildings and walkways are exposed to several weather conditions that can damage the overall appearance. Dirt and soil can become lodged in these areas, and as time goes on, the development of mold becomes a real possibility.

If untreated, these areas can become contaminated and dangerous. Power washing becomes necessary during times like these and, when done properly, can eliminate all built up particles, returning the surface to it’s original condition.

Renting a power washing machine takes time and effort. If you have never used a power washer before you will need to take the time to understand the settings and learn about the machine’s functions.

Professional power washing is a great option that will free up your time as well as guarantee a great job. To discuss your Austin power washing needs, please contact WOW Total Cleaning by calling 512-499-0058 today.
